Welcome to Richard Kennett's Website!

Starting iUntil further notice, starting April 26, 2024, I shall not be receiving any more mechanical clocks for repair.  I have a wait list that is 8 months long, which I must work through, and I am also reducing the length of my working day. I shall revisit this decision in December 2024.

Richard's passion for clock repairs is palpable. Fixed my clock that hadn't run for ten years and talked to me and showed me the stuff he'd done to it. Fascinating.

We're absolutely thrilled with Richard's expertise with our clocks. He has mended 2 German mantel clocks and one French one, ranging in age from late Victorian to around 1914. We're so pleased to be able to enjoy their ticks and chimes once more. He was so patient and precise in his work, and went to infinite lengths to ensure the continued functioning of the clocks. He surprised us with a report of his research on the type, age, and country of origin of each clock, as well as an immaculate description of the work he'd done. He further surprised us with a complete refinishing of the clocks' exteriors. So now our clocks are not only more beautiful to listen to, but also to look at. Great workmanship, and we can't recommend Richard highly enough.

Richard repaired both my grandmother’s vintage clocks. They lay dormant for a number of years. With his knowledge, attention to detail and expert workmanship they are both working like a charm. Thank you Richard for letting me enjoy these family heirlooms once again.

The Sessions clock inherited from my parents sat for years in silence, displaying a time that's right just twice a day.

Richard's rare and painstaking skills brought back an old friend to our home. I forgot how that clock's gong brings us charm and warmth.

Thanks, Richard Kennett!

'Richard was very helpful and thorough when explaining to me the inner workings of and the repair needed to my clock. He was extremely patient and methodical in his process. I was very impressed and will return to him with great pleasure with any future clock questions or repairs.'

A clock that had been in my family for three generations had stopped: we thought forever. Richard Kennett quickly and carefully brought it back to life and even taught us something of its history. He was a pleasure to deal with.

It was a delight to discover Richard - a man whose skills and passion for clocks shines through in all his restoration work. He is precise and painstaking - no detail is overlooked. I particularly enjoyed the photographs he sent showing each stage of work on both the case and the movement of my antique clock.

The clock has been ticking and striking with more robustness than I can remember. I think you have rejuvenated it.

Just to let you know, the clock is running perfectly. I think it lost about 15 sec. in a day (within limits for sure). I am so happy with it; looks beautiful for an old lady. So, once again Richard, thanks for restoring it to its former grandeur.

A wonderful man with a wonderful talent. This is a Buren windup mantel clock which was purchased at Thirsty's Flea Market. I only had it working for a few days until my brother broke it... my brother didn't like the sound of the clock so he rammed an object in the back of the clock which then broke the escapement. At the time it was difficult to find the right parts especially at the right price so I donated it to Richard in hopes that he could use it for parts, but about one year later I received a phone call from Richard saying he had fixed it! He did a great job and the moving parts are now inside so an object can never be rammed inside again! Thanks Richard for a job well done!

Richard repaired a cuckoo clock for me that I bought in the Black Forest in 1984 but had been in storage in my basement for years. The clock had some corrosion issues but Richard fixed it right up and it is now keeping perfect time.
